AT&T Ended 2019 With Fewer Video Subscribers Than Comcast

<!–*/ */ /*–>*/ AT&T (NYSE: T) lost another 1.16 million video subscribers in the fourth quarter, bringing its 2019 total to 4.1 million. The company ended the year with 20.4 million subscribers between DirecTV, U-Verse, and AT&T TV Now. The rapid decline in subscribers puts AT&T behind its biggest competitor in pay-TV, Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA), which closed out 2019 with 21.25 million video subscribers. Even when only counting Comcast’s residential subscribers, it’s about neck-and-neck with AT&T at 20.29 million. AT&T’s management expects its subscriber losses to have peaked last year, but that doesn’t mean it’s completely out of the woods. Meanwhile, Comcast expects its losses to increase in 2020 as it focuses more on profitability and its broadband business. Ultimately, the relative size of AT&T’s video subscriber base could negatively affect the margins of the business as it loses leverage over media companies in negotiating carriage rates. That could have a meaningful impact on AT&T’s 2020 results as it looks to launch AT&T TV nationwide. AT&T TV will launch nationwide next month,...

Balance bike vs tricycle: Which one is best for your child

Trinity Beach State School students will ride their bikes to school on Friday as part of National Ride to School Day. Childhood is all about having fun and learning many different things. One such thing is learning how to ride a bike -it’s almost a rite of passage. But while most people agree that children should learn to ride a bike, they have greatly polarising opinions when it comes to how children should learn to ride a bike. Should they learn to ride with a balance bike or tricycle? We often hear people deliberating between a balance bike and tricycle but don’t forget the other option – training wheels. In fact, many people don’t quite know the difference between a tricycle and training wheels so let’s sort the options out to get started. A tricycle, as the name suggests, is quite simply a three-wheeled bicycle. People also call it a ‘trike’. It comes in a wide range of shapes and sizes, and children as young as 18 months of age can be seen riding one. For generations, the tricycle has been a child’s first experience with cycling. In fact, in Singapore, you will often find grandparents taking a leisurely stroll around their neighbourhood with their grandchildren furiously p...

Complex quantum teleportation achieved for the first time

Austrian and Chinese scientists have succeeded in teleporting three-dimensional quantum states for the first time. High-dimensional teleportation could play an important role in future quantum computers. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘div-gpt-ad-1449240174198-2′); }); Researchers from the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the University of Vienna have experimentally demonstrated what was previously only a theoretical possibility. Together with quantum physicists from the University of Science and Technology of China, they have succeeded in teleporting complex high-dimensional quantum states. The research teams report this international first in the journal Physical Review Letters. In their study, the researchers teleported the quantum state of one photon (light particle) to another distant one. Previously, only two-level states (“qubits”) had been transmitted, i.e., information with values “0″ or “1″. However, the scientists succeeded in teleporting a three-level state, a so-called “qutrit”. In quantum physics, unlike in classical computer science, “0″ and “1″ are not an ‘...

Design tricks and finishing touches: Dan Gayfer Design create space for Brighton East Interior

A simple interior renovation by Dan Gayfer Design combines contemporary and industrial finishes with detailing tricks to create a spacious and interactive interior for a recently migrated family. Brighton East Interior involved cross-country collaboration between Gayfer (in Melbourne) and his Singapore-based clients who challenged him to repurpose their Victorian Californian-Bungalow into a flexible living space that met the hectic requirements of the family. The material palette used for the renovation is a mixture of industrial and contemporary elements and combines with small architectural detailing to create a series of vibrant spaces, including a new kitchen, living room and two bathrooms. In the kitchen, a polished concrete benchtop and galvanised tubing are contrasted by the warming touches of timber and pragmatic finishes like a tiled splashback and CASF Australia Corian benchtop. Western Red Cedar lining boards from Cedar Sales were chosen by Gayfer to run vertically up one of the kitchen walls as a feature and, as a little trick, also combine with concealed hinges to create an ‘invisible’ kitchen pantry. Recessed finishes like the countersunk stainless steel kitchen s...

Are you adding an extension to your property or intending to replace your existing roof? While

Are you adding an extension to your property or intending to replace your existing roof? While it makes sense to replace your roof with the same roofing material, you should consider and compare all options. If you are adding a new kitchen extension, or a new bedroom on the second floor, you will need to build a new roof entirely, and you can pick any tiles you want. As promised, here is Part 2 on how to choose the best roof tiles for your home. Slate shingle roofs have been used for centuries, especially in medieval castles and churches, and are known for their opulent appearance, natural beauty, and excellent longevity. Made from natural stone, slate shingles can last you for at least 100 years. It’s no wonder that the slate roofs on historical buildings still appear ageless even after years of punishing weather. Quality comes at a price though; because slate shingles are one of the most expensive roofing materials. They’re also extremely heavy, so you may need additional structural support. Slate roofs are complex to install and require an expert roofing contractor. Otherwise, it will lead to further roofing problems such as leaks and costly damages. Composite shingles are m...

2 Stocks to Buy Now Ahead of the $2 Billion Infrastructure Spending Spree

The one issue both parties in Washington can agree on is infrastructure spending. Spending estimates for an infrastructure bill are as high as $2 trillion. That’s why we’re giving you the top stocks to buy now before the U.S. government allocates trillions for these major projects. Democratic leaders have recently agreed with U.S. President Donald Trump on allocating as much as $2 trillion in new spending through a bipartisan bill that calls for the rebuilding of U.S. infrastructure. Gridlock remains a reality in Congress for a variety of issues, but this infrastructure bill is an exception and could end up on the president’s desk for signature by the end of the year. This would be a monumental stimulus project, but it will also be a catalyst for infrastructure companies. But not all infrastructure stocks are worth owning. Instead, we’ve used our proprietary stock ranking tool to find stocks with the best chance of breaking out higher. And the infrastructure bill could be just the catalyst they need to juice their returns.
